I have a 13 month old baby girl. I got to mention she has a feeding problem which don't know what exactly going on. She a failure to thrive baby that has a feeding tube. She can't gain weight on her own. She is tube feed at night. She takes a bottle during the day. Right now the doctor has on pediasure. She not interested eating finger foods. I try give her want I eat. She just refuse and throws it on the floor. She will eat the baby food. How long will this benefit her. The baby food still fills her up. I try to feed her stage 3 foods but she splits it out. She is tiny for her age. She is 18 lbs 11 ozs and 28 inches long. She is teeth and getting more teeth now. But she show no interest in regular food. So how long the baby food benefit her. She eat the gerber puffs. But that it. She feed herself with those. But she refuse the rest.

My son didn't have any issues like failure to thrive it just took him awhile to get used to the chunks of the stage 3 and real food and would gag constantly.. I don't think he liked the taste of stage 3 even though he liked all other baby foods.. anyways what I did was take the stage three foods and mush up the veggies in it so it's not actually like chunks its mushy but still has texture.. this eased him into it a lil better.. he didn't start out well with "everything I ate " the things he did well with was things that mush easy such as banana's, pancakes, french fries, applesauce, cooked carrots, etc take these foods and mush them up for awhile until she gets a lil more used to the texture.. even if you have to trick her into trying it like make her think you are bringing the cup to her mouth and then sneak a bite of something in but make it something tasty at first like banana's or pancakes with syrup so she will like the taste and want to try it.. good luck!

Try something colorful like using food coloring but not too dark make bright so that she can be interested.

The best thing to do is chop up regular food like cereal and mix it with water so she gets used to the taste and eventually you can get her working on it so that you don't have to mush it up

Because your child has special needs, talk to her pediatrician & therapist or nutritionist about her needs.

Why would your baby be failure to thrive? My daughter is almost 12 months old and weighs 17 1/ 2 pounds, it doesn't mean she has to be tube fed. Your baby is actually in the charts. My daughter is a slow weight gainer, but she isn't tube fed.
