Breakfast: Some of what you are having. (Or if you are having coffee and pastry, you could offer healthy cereal, or an egg, or pancakes, or waffles (the frozen kind are really convenient) Milk and OJ to drink. Lunch: Some of what you are having. (Or, if you're eating junk, and arent' willing to change, a sandwich (PBJ, tuna [not more than once a week], cheese, egg, etc.) or a can of low-sodium soup, or leftovers from dinner, or frozen pizza, or apple slices spread with peanut-butter (a favorite of my daughter as a toddler), or macaroni and cheese (most kids love it) or a carton of yogurt. Dinner: Some of what you are having. (Or if completely inappropriate, a simple pasta dish (Barilla makes a fabulous jarred pesto -- easy to just boil up some pasta and mix with spoonful of pesto), or any other simple meal (sandwich, yogurt, cereal, a quick hamburger, etc.) Snacks: Fruit, yogurt, cut up veggies and dip (be careful about choking hazards -- soft veggies only), milk and cookies. In case you've missed the point, toddlers CAN and really should be eating a normal adult diet. Don't cater to her pickiness. The longer you keep her on babyfood and applejuice, the harder it's going to be to make the switch. Don't make fuss -- just put dinner in front of her. If she's hungry, she'll eat. If she isn't, she won't. |
