It never really mattered to me. I just now that you are suppose to change there food every two weeks to make sure they are allergic or anything. And their taste buds arent fully developed yet. But once she really get into the food it will be so much fun.

I started with fruit, bananas first. Then pears, avacado, and peaches (he hated). Sweet potato is usually popular, my son loves it. Squash, too. I also make his food, it's a lot easier than I thought it would be.

Just try a different vegetable. Squash or sweet potato are good. I think they suggest you start with the "orange " ones first, but if she doesn't like those, then you could try beans. Both my babies liked just about everything, eventually they were even eating things like broccoli and cauliflower (that I steamed and then pureed, then froze into ice cube trays. Now that they are older (8 & 6) they are much pickier, so things definitely go in phases. Try going to gerber.com/ content/ usa/ bin/ pdf/ Starting_Solid_Foods_FG.pdf they actually say that fruits or vegetables first doesn't matter, but I think you'd rather get them liking vegetables first. Most babies will like fruit no matter what! Good luck and don't stress too much!

Always put a bit of milk Breast or formula in with the baby food. If you have a crock pot take a throw away type muffin pan you can cut to fit the crock pot so you can put carrots or squash, or spinach (fresh or frozen not canned) in the pans and put a cup of water in the bottom of the crock pot and then with a baby food grinder found at Toys r us & other baby stores grind it up fine see if she will eat that. And soft Banans just need to be put in the grinder. Good luck

I started w/ fruit. (pears, peaches, applesauce, bananas, etc) I really think you can start with whatever you want-- squash may be a good choice.

My son started on solids at 7 1/ 2 months and his first food was avacado chunks. He loved it!

I have two kids and both of them preferred squash and sweet potatoes. I would try introducing the foods mixed with a little cereal, so the taste is not overwhelming to them. Don't be discouraged if they refuse a food. Try that food again in a few weeks. Just make sure that you only introduce one new food per week. If the baby is allergic to any food, you don't want to have to guess which food it was. Stay away from meats and stage two (mixed foods) until your pediatrician gives you the green light.

I always started with the cereals....rice, oatmeal, then barley. Then the yellow fruits...applesauce, bananas, peaches, and pears...then the yellow veges...squash, sweet potatoes, potatoes, and carrots, then the rest of the veges and fruits except citrus. They loved the squash, sweet potatoes, and fruits. I always tried the fruits first.
