I introduced my daughter to the first foods at around that time. I read on babycenter.com that you can start feeding the first foods once they're twice the weight they were when they were born. So if your daughter weighed like 8lbs at birth, once she's 16lbs you can start feeding her. Hopes this helps!

Hi! If she does really well with the cereal, try mixing a bit of the purees in with the cereal. Purees alone do not fill up the baby that well and the cereal has a lot of nutrients that the fruit/ veg alone does not. Try starting with just one food per week like apples, sweet potatoes, and the pears. The taste of the fruit and veg will not be as strong when it is mixed with the cereal to get her used to the flavors.

I gave my son pears, peaches etc one in awhile. Once he was 5 months, he ate the 1st foods everyday.

My doctor had us start our daughter on fruit and veggies at 4 months. Some doctors will say wait until 6 months for all foods. Ultimately you are the parent and you make the decision. Even though my doctor said we could start her on food, we could have decided to wait. If you think she is ready, go ahead. If you think she isn't ready, don't give it to her.

At 4 months i always gave cereal, and once a day i would give a bottle of 3/ 4 water 1/ 4 apple juice. i always felt like that cereal made my babies constipated so i used the juice to help that along. i started the baby food jars (1st foods) at 6 months. i always started with sweet potatoes because i heard once that if you give a fruit first then they wont like the vegetable. i dont know if thats true. also, i gave only sweet potatoes for 3 days, before i tried another food , only introducing 1 new food every 3 days, to watch for allergies. (i was extra cautious about allergies because i have a long list of food allergies myself.) i hope this helped! good luck!

My son is 4 months and 1 week he is eating the stage one beech nut jar food. he eats a whole little jar at his 10am feeding. he also gets 4 oz of formula too at 10 am. i dont use a spoon i use a feeding bottle. i give him the carrotts, bannanas, pears, or sweet potatoes. dont mix wait a day or so to see how they react before you give a different kind. we have been giving him this for about 3 weeks now.like i said i gve him carrotts for 2 or3 days to see how he reacts then i give him something different. good luck..

Your pediatrician should have discussed his preferred feeding program with you. I would suggest talking with him before introducing any new foods to your baby....certain foods can cause allergies and that's the point in the "graduated introduction " of foods.....stick with the cereal only at least until you talk or see your pediatrician....2 weeks is not a long time to be on a new food.

I have a daughter that just turned 7mos and our doctor said when the baby mainly stops their natural rejection (pushing foreign object out of their mouth) then you can start them on 1st foods. She suggested starting with Orange foods first (carrots, sweet potatos) sticking with one food for the first couple of days then doing a different food for another couple of days. Then switch to green foods. Again staying with the same food for a couple of days before going to a different one. Then after the first week you can start adding non citrus fruits (pears, bananas, apples) again, which ever one you start with, do it for a couple of days before going to a new food.

You can give her the jarred food now. It is safe. Just make sure you feed her Stage 1 which includes foods such as apples and carrots, etc.

Some Dr's suggest around 5 months but it is always a good idea to wait until they are 6 months old. It will decrease the chances of babies developing allergies later on.
