How to prepare baby food homemade?

Question: How to prepare baby food homemade?

My daughter is 6 months, and for about 6- 7 weeks now she has been eating rice cereal before bed (by spoon), and oats & barley cereal for breakfast. I am going to give her her first veggie feeding tomorrow for lunch! I am planning to try out a bunch of vegetables in the next few weeks (carrots, squash, sweet potato, beans, and peas), I was wondering if anyone could give me any instructions on how to prepare these myself with fresh veggies? Tomorrow I will start with carrots, those are easy... I just cut into small pieces, add some water and blend with my puree gadget, right? Does it have to be served warm? And I read on few websites that other vegetables, other then carrots must be boiled before being pureed, is this true? Also, is 3 or 4 days enough time before I try a second veggie on her? Thanks!

You need to steam or boil the veggies first. I steam them for my daughter because steaming keeps the nutrition in better. Then you add them to your blender and use the water that you steamed them with. I tend to make a big batch and then freeze a bunch. You can do this by getting some ice cube trays and filling them, each cube tends to be enough for baby and then as time goes on you can use 2 cubes. Cool them off a bit before serving, but make sure they are warm, it reacts better with baby. Wait 2 days before trying another one.

I just threw whatever into the blender and it's done. I boiled anything store bought but anything fresh, i just feed it to her. I also didn't add anything including water. Remember, when you boil, your removing the nutrients.
