Preparing baby food yourself?
I've been wondering for a few days now. I've been reading that soon my son can have things like pumpkin, potato, etc. These are usually past the stage 1 foods. But my question is since it's hard to find a pumpkin unless it's fall or near Halloween, can you used canned pumpkin or does it have too much bad stuff for babies? Like is it only pumpkin in there or does it contain a lot of additives. I guess I could go look myself huh? . I just want to know because I'm going to make my own baby food soon. Also for potato.,. I know you cook it whatever way... but is it better to use formula or something to make it sorta like mashed potatoes that we commonly eat..or make it more like a baked potato that we eat? Thanks in advance

Feeding infants prepared baby food ?
I don't understand why new mom's today don't feed their babies foods like Gerber's or Beechnut. They have been around for more then 40 yrs and have raised many happy and healthy babies. Why not make your lives easier without having to worry if baby is getting the right nutrition and vitamins. Nutritious, portioned and portable too No need to warm the unopened jarsI think you might have misunderstood my question because you all seem to blast me. I am not saying that a parent is wrong if they don't feed their baby from premade foods but feeding baby " table foods" pureed or not like roast beef, sausage etc. Is not healthy for an infant baby.Their digestive systems cannot process these foods well. I was seeing alot of questions on here by new mom's trying to feed their infants stuff they shouldn't and was concerned. So my suggestion is that if you really don't know what to feed baby then jar food is a good way to go. It hasn't killed a single baby yet and the obesity rate was lower too. I am a nurse, mommy and grandma and haven't lost a single kid from feeding them jar food but everyone has their preferences in raising baby.

Which do you use for your baby commercially prepared baby food or homemade baby food?
why do you do which one you do what do you think are th advantages and disadvantages?thanks everyone and if you prefer homemade do you not find it hard finding the inexpedience of the food in the shopsi mean ingredience

Do you buy prepared baby food or do you make your own?
I make my own but use Earth's Best when traveling. I never can get carrots or peas smooth so I buy them prepared regularly.I use a hand blender. I think that it is comparable to a food processor. I have tried straining the peas but hardly anything filters through. Maybe my sieve is too fine? Making his food hardly takes any time but a few of my friends think it's silly... like I'm Momzilla or something...lol. Also, I am afraid to use Gerber because some of the food now comes in plastic does it have BPA? BTW, I use Babycubes to store the food. They come with lids attached, have ml markings and store neatly in freezer.

Prepared baby food?
how many people actually prepare their own baby food instead of buying it in the store?? My dad and one of his friends said i was a bad mother because i dont prepare the food myself.

Preparing baby food...?
I've already introduced my almost 5 month old to several solid foods. My question is, besides sweet potatoes and squash, what other foods could I prepare puree for my baby that she would be ready for ?

Self-prepared baby food?
My son will be 6 months on Saturday. He's formula fed as well as eating rice cereal. I recently started introducing him to fruits and veggies. My son's quite the eater and can wolf down a whole bowl of cereal in no time so those dag on lil jars of baby food are gonna get expensive Even Walmart brand. Any suggestions on preparing my own baby food from the food I make for myself? Personal experience is greatly appreciated as are websites that discuss this.

For parents that never used prepared baby food?
With my last son, I did the usual...rice cereal at 6 months, stage 1 veggies, stage 1 fruits, etc.I've been reading some answers on here from people who didn't use baby food and that interests me. My question is How did you go about it? Right from breast milk or formula to table food when they could handle it? Did you mush up things for them? What was the order you went in the process? When did you start?...Is this making sense? I hope I'm getting my question across. Thanks

How to prepare baby food homemade?
My daughter is 6 months, and for about 6 7 weeks now she has been eating rice cereal before bed by spoon , and oats & barley cereal for breakfast. I am going to give her her first veggie feeding tomorrow for lunch I am planning to try out a bunch of vegetables in the next few weeks carrots, squash, sweet potato, beans, and peas , I was wondering if anyone could give me any instructions on how to prepare these myself with fresh veggies? Tomorrow I will start with carrots, those are easy... I just cut into small pieces, add some water and blend with my puree gadget, right? Does it have to be served warm? And I read on few websites that other vegetables, other then carrots must be boiled before being pureed, is this true? Also, is 3 or 4 days enough time before I try a second veggie on her? Thanks
