I worked on a farm and it was an oraganic farm. Organic produce is grown without pesticides and it is more expensive than non-organic foods because there is more labor that goes into growing organically. Organic food is better for the baby because there are no chemicals and you know exactly what is going into your body. So if you can afford it then definitely feed your baby organic. Hope this helps

Organic is obviously better. Grind up food in a blender and that is better still.

Organic doesn't use chemicals when they're growing, so they're better for your baby.

Organic (or natural) isn't always better, but it does cost more. Read the labels for the ingredients. Or just make your own if you have time.

My understanding of organic food is that it is grown without any tampering of the natural process - meaning it was grown with out pecticides. In my opinion it doesn't matter which you choose, unless you have a preferance when it comes to organic foods or if you child is on a special diet that is regulated by a doctor. This is straight from Gerber's FAQ section on their site: How can you claim the Tender Harvest™ ingredients are "organic? " Organic refers to the way products are grown and processed. All Tender Harvest™ products meet USDA standards for "organic " and are also certified organic by the Oregon Tilth - a USDA accredited organic certified agency Why is the nutritional information different on the Tender Harvest™ products compared to your regular 2nd FOODS™ products? The nutritional value listed on the Tender Harvest™ products may be different than the regular Gerber products due to the fact that there may be different ingredients in the products. Also, Tender Harvest™ products come in different jar sizes than the regular Gerber products and the nutrition information reflects the serving size of one jar.

I'd go with organic. Or better yet, make your own baby food. All you need is a small food processor and you can grind up just about anything in there. That way you know exactly what your baby is eating. You can also make large batches and freeze them. I did it for years and am very satisfied in my choice to do so.

Organic baby food is grown and stored without the use of artificial pesticides and fertilisers. This is way organic baby food is better.

I don't use organic because of the short shelf life.

Neither, actually. Fresh food that you cook or cut up moments before you feed it to the baby is best. It tastes better and is more nutritious. If you wait until your baby is developmentally ready for solid food (usually between 6 and 12 months), all you need to do is give her/ him a piece of banana and let the baby take a bite. It's actually *less* work to peel a banana than to open a jar of so-called "baby food ". Signs of readiness for solids include the ability to sit unsupported, the appearance of teeth, and the development of the "pincer grasp " (when a baby picks up small objects between the thumb and *one* finger). If a baby has none or only one of these signs, she/ he is not ready for solids. If she/ he as two or three, she/ he may be. Try that banana; if baby takes a bite, chews, swallows, and wants more, then you *know* she/ he is ready. Giving a baby solid foods before she/ he is ready won't do anyone any good (they can't digest it), but exposes your baby to significant health risks--throughout her/ his life!! If you wait until baby is ready, you also save yourself the trouble of the "mush " stage where you have to put everything through a food processor, *and* the decision on when to stop giving mush (or a baby who refuses real foods because they have been given mush for so long!). Whatever you feed your baby, organic is better. It doesn't have the toxic chemicals that are "safe " today, but tomorrow will be discovered to cause cancer. However, the definition of "organic " can sometimes create confusion. The US government allows anyone to use the term, so learn all about it before counting on labelling.
