My son is two months but Im thinking about trying to make my own baby food when he is old enough...is it alot cheaper than buying the jars? Also do any of you do it and how do you do it? How long can you freeze it if say I made a batch of carrots does it stay good a long time? lol, sorry for all the questions Thanks I heart...thats the funniest thing Ive read all week, seriously...youve got to be kiddingsorry I heart...that is seriously the weirdest thinking Ive heard in a very long time...do you think baby peas has special magical powers? Hello...read the ingredients...Peas...yep, just peas...made in a factory.are you gonna say formula is better because it was " specially made" for babies?
Question about making your own baby food...?
I have successfully made acorn squash, butternut squash, pears, banana, and home made brown rice cereal. I have bought Earth's Best peas and carrots because of nitrates and the fact that I don't have time to shell peas even if I could find them fresh and organic in the middle of winter in teh midwest. Tonight I made sweet potato and decided to experiment with frozen green beans because I can't find them fresh and organic either and no matter what I do they are still chunky. I cooked them in teh microwave with water just to be fast for the experiment. Then I ran them through my hand crank food mill. Then I mixed them with about a half ounce of breastmilk and ran tehm through again. They were still a little chunky so I ran them through a fine strainer. Well, they are still in little chunks some how and I don't know what else to try. My son choked on some oatmeal and bananas today because I didn't add enough milk to thin it, so I def don't want to give him chunky green beans. ANy suggestions, experience appreciated
When making your own baby food can you mix in a little bit of brown sugar for flavor.?
My daughter is 6 months old, and I am making her baby food, my mother in law said I could put in a little brown sugar for flavor with her squash, sweet potato ETC, does any one know of any reason why I can not put in a little amount of brown sugar when making her baby food, she does not really care for veggies at all, but loves fruit bec it is sweeter, she is breastfeed and is use to the sweet tast I guesss
Do you make your own baby food? What do you use?
Hi ladies My twins are only 4 months old, so I still have time before they are on solids we are not even on cereal yet , but I am a planner I am intending to make our own baby food probably not all of it but at least some of it . My mom got us a cookbook and kit with trays to freeze the baby food for Christmas. My question is what do you use to puree? Some people say a blender, others say a food processor will work and still others say that a food mill is a must. So what do you recommend or use to puree your baby food? Thanks in advance
Mommies who make your own baby food...?
How do you store the food after you make it? My son is 7 mos old wow, the time has flown and I am making his food. I puree it and then freeze it in ice cube trays. Then I pop the frozen food cubes out and put them in zip lock bags in the freezer. He's still at the beginning stages, so not eating much and the ziplock bags are being opened so much that they are tearing. I hate waste so I don't want to frivolously use these bags...I'd like something that will keep the food from getting freezer burned but also not take up a ton of room. For the time being, I'm preparing about 2 3 wks worth of food for him again, because he's only eating about 2 cubes per day but down the road, it'll probably decrease to about a week's worth as he starts eating more and I make the same amount each time. Any tips on food storage, anything that's worked well for you? Thanks.
Can you make your own baby food?
It's just a thought that came to me whilst making smoothies this morning. Haha. Anyway, I'm talking about jars of baby food. Couldn't you just make that kind of food yourself? Like, can you puree bananas and feed that too a baby? Or is store bought baby food modified in some way just for babies? Is baby food healthier than making your own, like is it modified with vitamins or something? And is it even unsafe to make your own?
Moms who make your own baby food and freeze it?
I want to buy some small bowls to feed my daughter out of something that has covers and that would survive a fall from the highchair, but they can't be plastic because my husband freaks out if you put any plastic sort of thing in the microwave. I am looking online but I was wondering what everyone out there uses and if you have any suggestions for bowls to defrost your baby food cubes in.
Is it ok to make your own baby food?
I recently started my son on gerber and i have a puree baby food machine and was wondering if it was ok to make him some home made baby food with fruits or veggies or is it to soon and will upset his stomach?
