Best recipe book for making baby food?
I really want to make all the baby food for my baby. She is 3 1 2 months old now, and I don't plan on starting her on solids for another month or so but I was hoping I could get some input on good books to use as a guide. Thanks Wow, actually I have never heard of baby led feedings until you all brought it up. I didn't really expect to get this kind of response, but I am glad that I did. It definitely gives me something to think about. I am thinking of doing both and seeing where that goes. I did get a chance to read through the wholesomebabyfood.com web site and really like how they explain everything and give you options and choices for doing things either way. So thank you all for your input, I really do genuinely appreciate it
What is something similar to the baby bullet for making baby food?
i just saw the baby bullet online to make babyfood. you get the mixer, 2 mini mixer cups, a blender like thing that is bigger, storage cups, freezer tray, cookbook and spatula.the storage cups twist on the top to show the date you made it so you can know when to toss it. It cost $80, but you buy 1 get 1 free.....a little expensive for my taste....do anyone know anything similar I could get to make baby food?...my baby is 6 months old so I would be starting soon with food.

Making baby food......carrots not allowed?
I read online, and was also told by my pediatrician, to hold off on carrots because of the nitrates in them and spinach as well . Is this just in homemade baby food, or does it apply to processed, store bought baby food as well. Also, what exactly is a nitrate? I thought they were preservatives or something my mom was always nagging me to avoid deli meats and hotdogs while pregnant because of the nitrates , but I didn't realize they could be naturally occurring in food.Lastly I realize this is 3 questions in one , when is it safe to give my guy carrots....should I wait until he's a toddler...should I give them at all? Thanks for any and all answers
Making baby food - need some tips please!?
Now that peaches and plums are in season I am going to make some baby food for my son in addition to using apples from our trees and carrots and beets from our garden. I made saskatoon fruit yesterday similar to blueberries but better and with very small seeds do I need to be straining the food? I always see " Strained Carrots" , " Strained Peaches" on the labels. I cooked the berries well and pureed them before canning them they are essentially complete mush Any tips any other moms care to share?? Thank you I actually prefer to can rather than freeze. We go out a lot so I need something that is easily portable so I got the smallest canning jars. I cook and bake a LOT so cooking these up is not at all hard for me. I have been canning for years

How to make baby food from what you make for dinner?
My daughter will eat a little bit of baby food, but as soon as I bring my dinner to the table, she is reaching for and crying for it. She loves to nibble on pea sized bites of chicken, mashed potatoes, veggies, cheese, beef, almost anything on my plate I try buying baby food equivalent to what Im making, but she is showing less and less interest in it How do you make your baby's food from what you make for dinner? I tried putting chicken and carrots in the food processor, but she didnt want that Weird....she likes it from my plate, but not mixed for her. Maybe add a special spice or liquid? What do you do?She is 8 months old, breastfeeds for 3 4 of her meals, eats rice cereal for 2 meals, and baby food for another 2...but thinking of switching to " blended adult food" if I can figure out how..Damian she doesnt like it just in the blender, thats why Im asking...maybe adding a special spice would help? One person suggested nutmeg...just wondering if there are any other ideas.great It would just be easier to blend it, I wouldnt have to cut everything up so small...but since she doesnt seem to want it puree', it may be my only option My daughter does self feed with cheerios, little gerber puffs, and so on with NO problem....but I make the chicken so small pea sized or little shreds that sometimes its hard for her to pick up, but I guess she could just practice.
