Question about homemade baby food?
When making homemade baby food instead of storing it in ice cube trays and freezing it can't you just freeze it in baby food jars?

For homemade baby food, do I need to test each winter squash separately (4 day rule)?

Why does my homemade baby food taste awful?
I make my own baby food for my 6th month old son. I make him sweet potatoes, butternut squash, and acorn squash. I usually make his food first by washing it, I only peel the sweet potatoes, then I cut them up and boil them in separate pots. I boil the sweet potato for 20 minutes and the squash for 25 30 minutes. Then I puree them in my vita mix. I use the babies r us food trays to store his food in the freezer. I defrost it by putting hot water in a bowl and put his food cube in the bowl to let it defrost it takes about ten minutes to defrost. Then I take it out put it in a baby size bowl and when I spoon it out its all lumpy like I didn't puree it correctly or didn't let it defrost enough. When I taste test it, it's not frozen or even cold any more its slightly warm and it tastes nasty. I end up not giving it to him and just give him some earths best rice cereal. It hasn't even been a month since I made his food and its awful What can I do to make it better or what am I doing wrong? My family eats a lot of squash and sweet potatoes around this time of year. I make very many recipes with both of these items. I even like the way the squash and sweet potatoes tastes after i puree it but not after i freeze it. My son likes it too. I don't think there is a need to season it. Maybe once he is a little older I'll start to add some seasoning but not just yet he's only six months. And of course I peel the squash and take the seeds out. I'm sorry i didn't mention that before. My son doesn't seem to mind it after it's been frozen but i do, maybe it has freezer burn. It just tastes alot better fresher. This is not the only foods he eats these are the ones i just choose to freeze he gets plenty of other things to eat as well.

How to I heat my homemade baby food?
This may seem like a stupid question but how do you heat up baby food? I made sweet potatoes last night and froze some and left some in the refrigerator for the next few days. I guess I could have taken them out earlier to let them come to room temperature. I warmed up some formula but it really didn't do anything to the potatoes. Do you suggest adding water or formula to the vegetable? I just realized that I used cold refrigerated formula for his cereal. I guess I am supposed to serve that warm too. Also, once you introduced the vegetable did you serve cereal in the a.m. and just the vegetable in the p.m.? Thanks for your advice.

My homemade baby food is clumpy when I defrost it.?
This is the 2nd batch of food that goes wrong. I have baked chicken, cooled it, pureed it with formula to a nice consistency, and then frozen it in ice cubes. The problem is that when I defrost the cube, it is clumpy and needs to be re pureed. What am I doing wrong? Prior to freezing, my mixture is nice and smooth, similar to store bought baby food. But after freezing and defrosting, it is all clumpy and baby hates it. I end up having to throw some cubes in my Magic Bullet to re process. Any suggestions would be very helpful

What are good homemade baby foods to start my 5 month old baby on?
She was 5 weeks premature and has had pretty bad gas problems but our doctor wants to start her on vegetables and so i'm looking for some good advice recipes. Thanks in advance

How long does homemade baby food last outside the fridge?
I want to make my baby some homemade apple sauce mixed with oatmeal and take along to to church with me to feed her later on. How long does it last till it starts going bad if its not in the fridge?

Safely reheating homemade baby food without microwave?
Our microwave died. I am OK doing the veggies in hot water, but what is the best way to reheat his meats? Will steaming in the bottle warmer in a jar make it hot enough? Everything is cooked, pureed and frozen.

What is the best way to store and defrost Homemade baby food?
I am planning on making my babies food I was wanting to know any suggestions on storing and defrosting baby food mainly. I do have a baby bullet to make it but if anybody has any suggestion about making baby food in general I am all ears.

Homemade baby food purees for breakfast?
I have been making mydaughters food and freezing it and I love it. I make her purees for dinner and she loves it. Carrots, sweet potatoes, squash, green beans, broccoli. BUT I feed her the store bought fruit purees for breakfast with baby oatmeal. What are some fruits that I can cook and make purees out of so that I dont have to keep buying the fruits?

Homemade baby food questions?
My daughter recently started solids. I originally purchased Gerber baby food for her just so she could try several different foods, if she had an allergy or issue with it I wasn't overloaded with portions, etc. However, after discovering she loved carrots, I peeled, cut, and steamed her about 20 portions for the price of the little Gerber two pack I love making her baby food at home I feel better knowing exactly what I'm serving her and it is WAY less expensive and convenient to have everything on hand I was wondering what some good foods to steam and freeze for her would be any suggestions? Carrots are easy but do I have to take extra steps for veggies with seeds like squash do I remove them or just puree them? What about frozen foods like peas? Is it as nutritious to steam puree and refreeze or am I better off with store bought? If apples or bananas brown while freezing are they still good? I don't want to use lemon juice to preserve color because our pediatrician said no citrus. Thanks Sorry for the length
