I would like some suggestions on feeding baby solid foods?
My daughter is 5 months old and I have been feeding her solids for about a month now. I know there are many people who feel that babies shouldn't get solids until they are 6 months old, but she showed all the signs of wanting to eat solids. I started her on Beechnut brown rice cereal, the god night stuff, mixed with diluted baby juice. I didn't want to giver her juice at all, but she was getting so constipated when I gave her the cereal mixed with just water or formula. So I gave her that cereal with the apple juice, then about a week and a half later, I decided I would try something different and give her Gerber Oatmeal and Bananas. She seems to like the taste of bananas more than the taste of apples. I would like some suggestions on introducing a new feeding time, because I know eventually I will have to feed her solids more than once a day. I am just worried that she will sleep too much during the day and not enough at night. She has slept at least eight hours at night since she was six weeks old. I am planning on trying to wean her from her bottle by 9 months or a year, because that's how my mom did it, and I am fine. I am also planning on making my own baby food. Do fruits and vegetables fill babies up as much as formula does, or as much as the cereal does? I am just a little lost on when to feed her during the day, as I don't want her to lose sleep at night. How many times does an older baby eat solids during the day if they don't eat a bottle? Is it like us adults, three meals a day, maybe some snacks? What are the best fruits and vegetables to feed first? I have heard that bananas, applesauce, carrot, or sweet potatoes are the best thing to feed first. Can someone who has been feeding their baby for about a month tell me what they do with their babies? If anyone can give any other tips on solid feeding I would greatly appreciate them...thanks.
Having difficulty feeding baby solid food?
I've been having a very hard time feeding my baby solid. I've started feeding him close to 2 weeks now. He's almost 7 months old. I started with baby cereal, then fruits and veggie peas . He never ever voluntarily open his mouth, so I have to " play sneaky" with him. He pushed away the spoon that baby food flew everywhere, now I feed him with bare finger thoroughly washed . He never throw up by himself so I know he does not have any problem digesting, but there's always so much " drama" , crying etc that he eventually throws the food up. Recently I bought a squirt spoon like a small bottle with an opening shaped like a spoon so I can put the spoon inside his mouth and slowly dispense the content. This still doesn't work. I'm about to give up, why it's so hard just to feed him solid. Will really appreciate if other moms can share their experiences and suggestions.
When to start feeding baby solid foods?
I have two kids, I started feeding my first daughter rice cereal at 4 months old her doctor told me to. Now I'm in a program for women infants and children and they have very helpful classes about feeding kids and babies. They say its a new study that we shouldn't feed our babies solids until they are 6 months old. my daughter now is 4 months old Her Dr is also a part of the wic program and said wait intil she is 6 months.I am starting to think she is more than ready for rice cereal though. I keep reading online all the signs and symptoms of when a baby is ready to start solids... She has all the signs. She holds her own head up, sits with little support, sits well in a highchair, looks interested in our food when we eat, pushes her tounge back and forth on her palate ect. The main reason I think she is ready is because she was sleeping through the night 7 8hrs now she's waking up more often to eat about every 3 4hrs. So what should I do? She is eating a lot of formula. As a mother I think she's ready, but I want to listen to her Dr as well.
Feeding baby solid food?
I started feeding my 4 month old rice cereal and she is doing very well with it. I wanted to try giving her some fruits veggies next but i'm a little confused. Do I feed her the cereal and the baby food at the same meal or feed her cereal one meal and the baby food the next???? Then do I give her abottle right after? It seems like the guidlines on how to do this are a little vague.

when can u start feeding babies with solid food and what would u start with? fruit, veg? joghurt? my granddaughter is 13 weeks now so probably too young .i had 3 children myself but it seems a lot has changed since then. lol.

I was just wondering what age can a baby eat solid food or smush baby food? My sister just had a baby and she's pre mature. She only weighs like 5 pounds or somethin like that. My sister is feeding her breast milk only. When can the baby eat normal baby food instead of just drinking milk?
