How long can baby food in the jars be kept in the fridge?

Question: How long can baby food in the jars be kept in the fridge?

(Posted by: Mikayla on 2009-05-25 19:19:39)

How long can you keep left over baby food in the jar in the fridge? One, two days?? Oddly enough it doesn't say on the jars, it's the Heinz brand. I made sure to spoon some out as it does state on the jar that a babies saliva can contaminate it with bacteria. Thanks!

If your baby has been fed from the jar it needs to be discarded right away as bacteria from his/ her saliva can get into it. If you have spooned some out into a seperate bowl then I believe it's 2-3 days(it should say on the jar somewhere).

On the back of most jars it says. Mine all say 48 hours as long as they are refrigirated straight away and sealed. And like the first poster said, dont feed straight from the jar as this will contaminate the food and it will have to be discareded right away. Good luck

Each jar has it's own directions. Most of them no longer than 3 days. I usually try to feed one jar between 2 feedings, so it's gone in one day. The fresher the food for the baby the better, not as much bacteria. But read jar labels , it will help you out.

It should say on the jar. If your child ate directly from the jar I would go ahead and throw it away. If you feed it out of a different container it should be good withing 2-3days. Read your label tho, it should be written on there. - jeωeℓℓчssα's мαмα *;

Ours say 2-3 days in the fridge, although we never have enough lef tin a jar for more than a day or two tops.

I would not keep it for more than a day for my child to eat - it's not worth putting your baby at risk. I ate some kept for 2-3 days myself (fruit ones; veggie ones are bljakh!), threw out all the rest.
