How did it go when you fed your baby solids for the first time and how old were they?
My baby just turned 4 months yesterday and I just knew she was ready to eat. I fed her a lil bit of baby oatmeal and I was amazed that she actually knew what to do. She would open her mouth to the spoon and would move the food back and swallow. No mess at all and she would cry to give her more. It was pretty exciting. Her doctor approved feeding her at 4 months since she was showing signs of being ready.
Out of ideas for 9mo baby solids?
Can anybody give me suggestions on what to feed my 9mo daughter? So far, I give her rice cereal in the morning she is getting tired of it I think, she struggles to get through 2 tablespoons. I've given her vegie purees & fruit banana, apple, beans, carrot, pumpkin, potato, sweet potato, avocado & apple sauce, and a few others... my partner wants to start her on porridge and lentils, but are there any other foods you suggest, or do you know any meal planners? She loves baby yoghurt I give her vaalia a brand in Australia which has omega 3 and DHA which is great, she normally takes fish oil anyway... but I'd like suggestions personal experiences,Thanks Oh forgot to add, she has been struggling lately to take solids because she has cut 2 teeth in the past month.I have got advice from my dr CHN but would like OWN personal experiences... You don't seem like you have a kid of your own, just a niece? I've also given her slices of wholegrain bread and a bit of pasta jelliver no, haven't heard of organix. I've had my daughter on raffertys garden lol organic banana porridge forgot to add that the past 2 weeks though... I like your list alot I now have a wide variety to work with now, thx guys
About to start feeding my baby solids, how do you do it?
My baby will be 5 months this month and ive decided when he turns 5 months im going to start feeding him solids aka rice cereal and gerber baby food. He is a supported sitter and can hold his head up very well and shows all the signs of being ready to eat. I asked the doctor about it last week and she said to mix rice cereal with baby apple juice and to feed it to him with a spoon. But i still have a few questions. When do i feed him rice cereal? Do i do it in between formula feedings or do i replace a formula feeding with the rice cereal? Also does it say on the box how to mix it to make it soupy? And how much should i give him? I asked the doctor all of this and she said " youll know" . Im a first time mom and i dont know lol Also after rice cereal when do i start with gerber food? She said green to orange so that means i start with peas i assume. With that how much do i feed him and do i replace a formula feed with it? Thank you for your answers
Feeding baby solids... What to give when?
Right now my 5 month old baby has been eating Peas for almost a week... I read to give them one type of food for a week at a time incase they are allergic before switching to a new kind... What do I give him next? What order did you try giving your baby food in? I tried giving him apple sauce too as a dessert one night but he turned his nose up to it, I think it's to sour for him right now LOL Also, I give him half a small jar of peas for lunch then the rest for dinner, along with a 7 oz bottle... Should I give him more food and less bottle? And when do I start giving him a full jar of baby food? I'm not really sure what to do here LOL
This might be a dumb question, but how can you tell if you are feeding your baby solids correctly?
My baby will be 8 months old in about a week already WOW , and he's been on cereal and baby food since about 5 1 2 months. He has never really like being fed from a spoon and I've pretty much given up on that all together. He will occasionally take fruits from a spoon and certain veggies, but he would rather eat crackers all day long. He loves to self feed and will get frustrated with me it I try to feed him. I've been recently been spreading baby food fruit on organic Eggo type waffles and letting him eat that way. I give him soft cooked fruits and veggies and they pretty much all end up on the floor. I know that he really doesn't NEED to be eating solid foods for other than practice at this stage, but I wonder if I'm it all wrong. He really likes rice rusks organic , gluten free graham crackers, various gerber baby finger foods, cheerios, and toast or waffles. He basically doesn't eat anything else I give him. I'm concerned about the great amount of " bready" foods he's eating and not enough fruits and veggies. I do use fruit baby food as a jam on his waffles, but I haven't really found a way to sneak veggies in. I have a lot of baby food because I was foolish and bought a bunch that was a " good deal" oops, not so good if baby doesn't like it. And veggie baby food is AWFUL stuff yuck. How do you get your baby to eat their veggies? I give him peas and diced carrot cooked and they all end up all over the floor. I cut them into strips and he crams the whole thing in his mouth and gags a little.Bonus question Please give me ideas on how to use up a couple boxes of baby rice and oatmeal and veggie baby food. It's not like I give him crappy white flour stuff I don't even eat that junk. We all eat organic whole wheat whole grain stuff. And he hardly eats any solid foods. He only gets one solid meal a day and he doesn't actually eat much of that. He gets over 32 oz of formula a day.
When did you give your baby solids?
My Little girl is 10 Weeks and is doing well on breast milk only. However I watch a T.V program the other night where a girl was giving her 8 10 week old baby, baby rice and rusks melted down. When is it to early to start trying some solids even if it's just to get there taste buds trying new things?I don't want to wish my little ones life away but I am looking forward to her trying new foods. I don't want to pay the price by upsetting her tummy. Most of the baby foods in the shops have got a 4m minimum on them, is this just a guide line or should I wait?

Help with baby solids and constipation?
Hi everyone, i was wondering, i have my 6 months old baby girl, and she started on solids about 2 weeks ago, her pooping changed but it seemed to be steady about every other day for example she would poop on monday, then not on tuesday and then she would on wednesday The day before yesterday i gave her organic bananas and yesterday she had prunes, the last day she pooped was Saturday, so following her rutine she should've pooped today, she seemed to be straining a lot and trying to push a lot earlier but nothing came out.So my question is, should i feed her today her daily solid or should i wait until she poops to continue? As additional info she is 100 % breastfeed, and she's very active, crawls already and sits up without support on her own.
Question about feeding baby solids? What is so wrong with purees/baby food?
Baby led weaning or some people call it baby led solids seems to be all the rage these days. I really don't understand it. I've read about it on the internet and it just seems like a dangerous choking hazard. To me, it just seems a lot safer to feed a baby food that won't choke them. So my questions are how is it not dangerous? And what is wrong with purees? I'm not trying to stir up trouble, I'm merely curious.
I'm at a complete loss when it comes to feeding my baby solids. Please help!?
My 7 month old has been on solids since 5 1 2 months and has never really taken to it. Well, he used to like baby food, but now he really doesn't like it. I give him small amounts of finger foods which he enjoys better to play with. He might swallow some of it, but most of it is thrown on the floor. He'd rather eat that than baby food my problem now is that I stocked up on LOTS and don't want to waste it. Is this normal for a baby to reject baby food once he finds out how great it is to feed himself? I'm a paranoid about choking new mom and need ideas to help me help my little guy get good eating habits.
What happens if you don't feed your baby solids?
Hi,I have a 7 month old baby boy and he doesn't really like veggies but does love fruits & sometimes eats rice cereal which he also doesn't like. Wondering what will happen if he doesn't eat solids like normal? He does drink a lot of milk like 8 oz. every 4 or less hours. It's not just formula...I make his own milk so I don't spend a lot on formula. His milk is made of powder soy milk, oatmeal, rice, Quinoa mother grain , & rice grain Plus his formula. I'm I feeding him right? even though he doesn't eat veggies I'm sure he's getting all his nutrients from this right?thanks Edit I NEVER feed him jarred foods. I process them myself. I boil his veggies then I mash them and he still doesn't like it.
