Baby shower games/prizes ideas?

Question: Baby shower games/prizes ideas?

(Posted by: Mommy2Be on 2010-07-26 13:11:31)

This is my 1st baby shower. its gona be in november. I live in Arizona and most of my family lives in other states so I wont have many people at my baby shower. 15 at the most. I wont have a job and I knw my parents dont have lots of money so my boyfriend is probably the one who might have to pay for a lot of the stuff. I want to make this cheap but very memorable to me and my famiy and friends. I want it to look like a baby shower and have food and games and prizes but I do have to be a little cheap. Do you have any ideas that I can do for games and prizes. I know of one which is the diaper game. Also maybe you can tell me what u had at your baby shower? thanks for all the help :)

Most baby showers I've been to the prizes are objects that go back to the baby. Rattles, spoons, socks, lotions/ shampoo, teething rings, small toys, outfits....etc At my sis in laws baby shower we played the right-left game. Have all people at baby shower stand in a circle and have one holding a gift and you read the following story and they pass the gift to the right each time it says right and left each time it says left. We had a blast with this as it gets so confusing. This is a story about Mrs. Wright's baby shower tea party. She lived right at the end of Lefty Lane, the third house on the left. Today, Mrs. Wright's was hosting a baby shower tea party. The women would enter left, right through the front door and greet Mrs. Wright, they would head right down the stairs, turning left then right into Mrs. Wright's family room where the mommy-to-be was. Two of the girls were left-handed so they would sit at the left of the table. Mrs. Wright held up her right hand and all of her friends grew quiet, except the left-handed girl on the right patting Mrs. Wright's dog named Hefty Lefty. Mrs. Wright asked Sarah Wright and Julie Wright to pass out the teacups starting to the left. Sarah Wright and Julie Wright started out left but turned back because they left the cups just to the right of the table, right next to the spoons. Mrs. Wright said, "That's all right. " Mrs. Wright began to serve her friends some pie when Grandma Wright smelled the delicious desserts and left her bedroom to join the Wright girls. She went down the stairs and turned left than right, right into Mrs. Wright's family room. Grandma Wright knocked and entered left and sat in the rocking chair on the left. Sarah Wright and Julie Wright invited Grandma Wright to join them at the table. Grandma Wright had been to many baby showers as a young girl and right before they realized it, Grandma Wright was telling them a stories from when she was the mommy-to-be and went to the right cabinet and in the left drawer were pictures of her baby shower. As the party ended right on time, they all put their dishes right in the left side of the sink and thanked Mrs. Wright and Grandma Wright for such a wonderful time. Soon, all of the women from the Wright baby shower tea party turned right than left, then left again to return to the front door and out to the right car that they arrived in. Down lefty lane they went. Now who ended up with the right gift?

One game we played was take a roll of toilet paper, and everyone has to guess the amount of sheets it would take to go across the mommies belly. You can go to the dollar store and get some really cheap nice looking prizes like candles, hand creams, hair accessories, books, garden memorabilia

I had two extremely long and tedious labours so for the third baby I had the baby shower after my waters brooke Location: the labour ward! it was hilarious and certainly memorable! of course I chucked everyone out when it started getting pain full but it was really fun! i suggest it but one thing it is just up setting that your arranging your own baby shower get your best mate to organise it and as for the family thing get them organise them even if you all have a family meal its not fair on you its the most important time of your life

I didnt have a baby shower myself (just my own personal choice)...but I have been to many. 1. You can find a wealth of printable games online like word scrambles and such 2. one fun game I remember was putting baby pins in a tray of sand blind-folded, each person took a turn and it took up a lot of time. 3. Name that tune 4. guessing how many sheets of TP it takes to go around your belly. They sound checky---and they are, but that is what makes them fun too. For prizes, you can go with Candles, pretty little notebooks, anything you can buy cheap and "pretty up ". If I may add, my best suggestion is to register well. Go for non-newborn clothes (these will come in bulk anyway and they arent in them long). Basic staples that you need day to day...such as, diapers, wipes, bottle brushes and so on. Make a list of what you NEED and go from there. I was overwhelmed by all the baby products on the market...turns out I didnt use most of what I felt I 'had to have'. Keep it basic and you will get more out of it. You can never have too many essientials. Best of luck to you, your family and your new soon to be addition. Oh and pictures, pictures, pictures...though you may not feel like having the camera pointed at you now, in a year you will wish you had many pictures of the day.

1) Guess Mom's Tummy Size: (Materials- String or yarn and scissors) Have each woman pull the yarn to the size they believe would fit perfectly around the Mother-To-Be's center of her pregnant tummy. After everyone cuts their string, compare the results to the Mommy-To-Be's actual tummy. Give a prize to the woman who is the most close! This is a baby shower favorite. 2) Never say "Baby ": (Materials- baby safety pins or another type of baby object you can place on a string for each woman at the party as well as string or yarn, enough for each woman to wear as a necklace). Have each woman place the necklace with the baby safety pins around her neck when she gets to the party. The rules for this baby shower game are given out at the beginning of the baby shower that whenever someone says the word "baby " during the shower, any woman who calls it out gets a pin from the other woman who stated the word. At the end of the baby shower, the woman with the most pins wins a prize. 3) How Many Baby Items Can You Name: (Materials- pad of paper and pen for each woman). Have each woman write down as many baby products as they can name (bottle, blanket, pacifier, etc) within 5 minutes. Sure it is easy at the beginning, but towards the last few minutes, the women will start racking their brains for more :) Give a prize to the woman who gets the most baby products named! 4) Guess How Many Safety Pins: (Materials- Safety Pins and Jar). Pass around a jar full of baby safety pins. The one who guesses the closest wins a baby shower prize. A baby shower game favorite! And for prizes just go to a dollar store look for things like pedicure sets, hand lotions, nail polishes, cooking supplies, candles, candy, picture frames, or anything you want.
