What to have as baby shower food?
I am throwing a baby shower for my best friend and have been trying to decide what to have to eat. I don't want to have hot dogs or hamburg bbq like every other shower ive been to. I was thinking of having lasagna...but doing 4 variations so people can choose what they like. Like mushroom lasagna, tomato sauce lasagna, chicken and cheese lasagna, and something else. That way if someone doesn't like one thing, there's other options. I also thought of doing a side salad and baguettes and some veggies and dip. Does this sound like a bad idea or do you think it will actually work out well?It will be 1pm....and there are people coming from other states so I figured a meal was the way to go.
Cheap baby shower foods?
I'm doing a baby shower for approximately 50 people on a budget and need some ideas.I'm already thinking about cut up fruits, cheese & cracker tray, and a few coffee cakes.The shower is also going to be outdoor and I need some ideas for what I should use for decorations, if any. Also, it is going to be co ed, and I have no idea what kinds of prizes to get for the men.

Thanks for everyone who gave ideas for the baby shower prizes. Now I'm trying to formulate a menu for the baby shower. My sister the pregnant woman is so laid back that it's making things difficult for me if that makes any sense . So far this is what I have for the menu Cheeseball & CrackersPretzelsDeviled EggsPasta SaladCucumber SandwichesFruit Salad I go the idea for this watermelon thing from another posting on the yahoo answers so thanks Now...I need food with substance. I cannot serve lunchmeat because her doctor told her pregnant women cannot have cold lunchmeat...SO..what do I serve? There will be 14 people at the shower. The shower is from 2 4 p.m. on a Saturday. I was thinking maybe making chicken salad or tuna salad and getting mini bagels and having little sandwiches? Gestational diabetes & the BABY SHOWER food?
I have gestational diabetes. My friend is throwing me my baby shower and was wondering what was ok for me to eat... she doesnt want to temp me too much. I cant have anything like cake & ice cream or even too much bread. Fruit & veges are good,yogurt, granola, etc... Protien & good fats nuts are good also. I want to tell her whats ok, but i dont want the food menu to completely suck for everyone else. Any ideas???? PLease ThanksShould I tell her its ok to have cake? Maybe a cake I dont like... like carrot cake???

I'm a hostess for one of my best friend's baby showers, and one of the games that I picked out for us to play was the whole " guess the type of baby food" game. I was wondering, about how many different types should we get? The last shower I went to we had I think 9, but I don't know if that's too many or not. What do you think?
