What is your babies meal plan like for the day at 6 months?

Question: What is your babies meal plan like for the day at 6 months?

(Posted by: Ashley on 2008-05-27 06:05:13)

I`m just curious what you feed your 6 month old in the run of a day. ie: 8:00 Cereal +6 oz 12:00 8 oz 4:00 baby crackers and french fries Obviously I wouldn`t be feeding my child french fries, but I`m just curious what others day to day is. And for the record, my daughter only has baby cereal and/ or jarred baby food other then formula. And it`s only once or twice a day. 10pts for the most detailed Oh also, could you put portions? And the sex of the child? The weight now and the birth weight? Sorry, doing a mom project for a mom and me group

At 6 months my daughter had pretty much just started solids, and was BF on demand. So she ate about every 2-3 hours during the day and evening, and once at night. (Night = 11 p.m. -6 a.m.). She ate solids (cereal, jarred foods) twice a day, at any convenient time. (Usually about a tablespoon, twice a day.)

My son weighed 8.3 lbs at birth and at 6 months he's 16.8 lbs. Breakfast (around 6:00 am on weekdays) - 6-8 oz formula Around 9:00 am he has another bottle, usually about 4 oz. Around 12 or 1pm, he has a jar of stage 2 fruits. He eats the whole jar. He also usually has some water to drink in his sippy cup with his lunch. Around 3pm, he has about 6 oz of formula and a snack (usually either a biter biscuit or gerber puffs). Around 5:30, 6-8 oz of formula. Around 7:30, two jars of stage 2 foods - one veggie and one fruit. He eats all of it, usually. Around 9:30, about 4 oz of formula before going to bed.

One 6 month old (my big boy) Bottle: 8 oz 6:30AM 10AM 1PM 4:30PM and 8PM He would eat 1 jar of baby food at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Sometimes he would have cereal in his bottle at night if he was particularly hungry. My other 6 month old: Nursed on demand all day, no other food (she wouldn't eat anything else and was 20lbs at 6 months old just like her brother listed above.) So there can be quite a range!!! Oops!!! Baby one boy birth weight 7lbs 13oz Baby two girl birth weight 9lbs 3oz. Both 20 lbs by 6 months.

At 6 months my daughter was being breastfed on demand, generally every 2-3 hours. Then she would eat a small amount of what we ate for dinner.

Baby six months .... 5lbs 2oz at birth 12lbs 4oz at six months At six months we only started introducing rice cereal. We would give her approximately 1/ 4 - 1/ 2 cup in the afternoon. When she hit the seventh month mark, she had just started one or two veggies. When we started that we moved the cereal feedign to 1/ 2 hour after her first morning feed and fed her the veggies in the afternoon after her afternoon nap. We would started on just a tablespoon or so of the veggies. Sometimes I would mix the rice cereal with the veggies to make them taste a little less strong. But really it wasn't much more than 1/ 4 cup. Good luck!

I am doing something called Baby-Led Weaning. My son is now 7.5 months old and is doing really well with it. I skipped the baby food and cereal all together and he eats pretty much whatever we do! He even feeds himself and has been since about 6 months old! Here's an example of his diet: 5:30am- He nurses for about 20-25 minutes. 8-8:30am- Again nurses for about 20 min then I offer solids. He will usually eat about 1/ 4 of a banana, apple or pear (whichever fruit he wants). Then he will gnaw on a waffle or english muffin. Sometimes I hard boil eggs and give him the yolks. 11:30am- Nurses for 20-25 min. Then we eat lunch. He loves soup (split pea, chicken noodle.. whatever I make). Cucumber slices or brocolli (really any veggie. I steam or roast them until softened then he picks it up and goes to town on it!). 2-2:30 pm- Nurses for 20 or so minutes and then takes his nap. 5-5:30pm- Nurses for 20-25 min and then we have dinner. About 1/ 4 of a hamburger patty or chicken breast (any meat). Some steamed green beans/ baby carrots. Rice or sweet potato. 8:30- Nurses for as long about 30 minutes and then off to sleep. The key is to nurse/ formula feed first (up to 12 months) and then offer solids. It is really good for a baby to self feed. Not only do they develop motor skills a whole lot better, they get a really healthy relationship with food! They will never over eat! Spooning baby food in baby's mouth is not healthy for them. Not only is it a choking hazard, but they can't control how much that they are getting. And, they don't learn to chew that way! Google the Baby-Led Weaning! It takes away all of the questions on what/ how much/ when to feed! It's amazing what a baby can do/ eat! Look into it, I promise you will be so glad that you did! Baby weighed 6lbs 13oz at birth. He now weighs 19lbs 15oz. Very best wishes!

Baby boy was 9 lbs at birth and 16.5 at 6 months. He´s 8 months now, 19 lbs and still exclusively breastfed. When I do start solids I usually go with cereal in the afternoon and a fruit or veggie mid morning. But since I introduce solids way late, almost at one year old, it´s a much faster easier process. I did this with my now five year old. Reason for dong this is severe allergies in the family. Schedule? What schedule? he´s feeding on demand and rarely sleeps through the night tho it´s been known to happen.

My son's birth weight was 6.6lbs and he weighed 16lbs @ 6months. Currently he is 8.5 months. At around 6 months his diet looked something like - 5:30a - BF 9:00a - Juice 4-5oz, wheat based cereal (2 scoops approx), BF 12:30p - Vegetable soup 4 oz, boiled (rice, vegetable, pulses)) and fish (fresh water) all mashed , BF 4:30 p - mashed banana/ steamed apple, BF 7:00p - BF 9:30-10p - milk (formula) 7oz Our doc was strictly against giving too much of cereal to the baby. She was of the opinion that if I could give my baby fresh (cooked) food everyday then why give cereals which have preservative etc. There was no fixed measurement for his solid food to start with. I started off with an approx amount (from an idea of how much he could eat) and increased them slowly. Anyways if these were not enough for him he had BF to complete his meal.
