Is it ok to paint baby furniture that I received as a gift?
My mother bought a used bedroom set for me as my baby shower gift. I don't want to offend her. Its a beautiful bedroom set. But, its maple and it does not match the nursery I'd like to give my little girl. Since I received the bedroom set as a gift, do you think its ok for me to paint it?

When is a good time to start buying baby furniture/pram ect?
I'm 13 weeks and so excited I just want to get the nursery ready. My partner tells me to not buy things until I am 8 months pregnant NO WAY AM I WADDLING AROUND A STORE AT 8 MONTHS ...ha...MEN So, when is a good time do you think?
I need some opinions on baby furniture?
My daughter is almost 2 years old and will be moving into a toddler bed next month. We are trying for our second child, but are not pregnant yet. I sold her changing table after she potty trained because we did not like it and decided we would buy a new one for the next baby. She is keeping her dresser so all we have left from the nursery furniture is the crib. The crib is Graco brand but very plain looking and not as solid as most because her first one broke while moving so we just bought whatever they currently had at the store so she had a bed to sleep in. Now that she is no longer going to be using it I can't decide if we should sell it and buy all new matching nursery furniture for our next child and plan to use it for any children we have after that or just buy furniture to match the crib we have and use the same crib for our next child. I would really like a more classy, sturdy looking crib but the one we have is only about a year old and has held up fine with my daughter.What do you think? My husband would like to use the crib we already have and I feel like it would be nice to have a sturdy and matching set and then use it for any other children we have.I guess I should also add we are planning to move out of state in about 3 years so would need to consider selling the furniture or moving it with us. My thought is if we use the same crib we would sell it, if we buy a new set we would move it with us.What would your opinion be?She is already using the crib as a toddler bed, but we bought an actually toddler bed for her birthday so she will be using that instead after next month. The options were to re use the crib she has and sell it after baby 2 has outgrown it or buy new furniture before 2 is born and use it for all of the remainder of our children..
Is there a place to get quality baby furniture for cheap?
I don't have a whole lot of money to spend on furniture and nursery stuff. I am wondering if there's anything that I don't really need, and where I can get it all for cheap. I lost my job and although looking for another job and have about 6 7 months left, I still would like to look around. I want my baby to safe but I don't have a lot to spend. Canadian moms only - did you buy baby furniture in the USA and have any trouble bringing it back to Canada?
I could not find what I wanted anywhere except Babies R Us and it is a not as nice version of what I found at JC Penny Plus it works out to be about $1200.00 more However a friend just told me her friend's sister had a brand new car seat confiscated at the border as it did not meet CSA standards. I do not want $1500.00 of furniture confiscated. I called Canada customs to check on duty to see if it was worth it to purchase in the USA no duty, only GST PST as it is USA made I am assuming they would have mentioned the crib would be subject to approval?? I will call again tomorrow during business hours but was hoping someone could ease my mind tonight. Anyone else purchase their set across the border? Have any issues?
