Do I have to give my baby formula if i'd like to 100% breastfeed?
I'm going to be a first time mom in November yay . I'd like to breastfeed my baby boy 100 % of the way but my friend sort of put doubt in my head. She told me that I should buy a can of formula and take it with me when I deliver just in case my baby boy doesn't know how to latch on. I told her that if he didn't latch on i'd ask for help from the nurse or my mom if she was in the room at the time and she responded with, " Well ok if you want your baby to starve." Of course i do NOT want my baby to starve It's just that i've tried formula, my cousin gives it to her baby, and no offense to formula feeding mommy's but that stuff tastes like metal I don't want to give my baby formula at all. I'd just rather give him breast milk. Now i'm really worried that he won't know how to get the milk out or that milk won't come out of my breasts for him to drink and i'll have no other choice but to give him formula. So my questions are, do I absolutely HAVE to buy a can of formula to take with me when I deliver? Will the nurses help me feed him if he doesn't know how to latch on? And, what do I do if i'm not producing milk on the day I deliver? Any help and input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Yes I know I worry too much. Like I said, i'm a first timer. Another question though, how long am I supposed to breastfeed for? Sorry if these are stupid questions.
How do I know wether to change baby formula or not?
My daughter will be 2months on Aug. 4th. She is on Gerber Good Start Gentle Plus provided by wic . She was doing good with it but now she only does good during the nights. During the day she will not take whole feedings and becomes very gassy and miserable. She is a hard burper also and even after patting for 20minutes she will still feel bloated and finally burp later on after a 15 minute cat nap.I am concerned because she is not sleeping much during the day and she is alot to handle during these periods. I've tried the mylicon gas drops and they do not seem to work. She goes to the pediatrician on Aug. 4th for her immunizations but I am not sure I should wait that long ??

Would it be ok to give my baby formula at night?
Hello Ladies,My baby girl is almost 11 weeks old she is currently breast fed. I am not trying to stop breast feeding just yet, but my dilemma is that me and my husband NEED SLEEP I mean we cant take it anymore because we only get like 5 or 6 hours of sleep but not good sleep because since she is breast fed she wakes up every 1 or 2 hours to eat. She drinks about 2 to 3 oz of milk and I really think its not enough I pretty much take care of her during the day since my husbands schedule is pretty whack and he gets home at 12am I have tried to sleep while she sleeps but its impossible for me to go back to sleep, I just cant seem to and it is starting to stress me out.So two of my friends told me that they give their babies formula at night and their little ones sleep through the night. Now my husband says he doesn't mind getting up to feed her but I know he gets frustrated when he has to wake up again 30 mins later after she feeds and then I wake up like 5 or 6 in the morning to pump and from there I CANT go back to sleep so I take care of her so he can sleep and then he has to go back to work at 3pm.My husband is in the military so his job is demanding and its not like he can call in and say hey I need the day off which I have told him to do but he tells me its not that simple. My next option is to give her formula. I don't want to let her cry it out especially if she is hungry, I think she is still to little for that and she wouldn't understand, and it also breaks my heart.ADVISE PLEASE I AM DESPERATE
Which Emfamil or baby formula would be best for my son?
He's currently eating Emfamil Lipil. I don't get what's the difference between the yellow Emfamils, they all say Lipil. but different types, like my mom just bought him Premium Lipil, and the one he had before only said Lipil.. What's the difference??I think that has a little to do with his constipation, what do you think? And I noticed online there's different types of Emfamil. pink, purple, blue Soy , etc... he FINALLY had a bowel movement today, it was a green pea color.. and mostly liquidy..He had a little trouble going, as in pushing, and using little force. Is there any other good formulas? At the hospital In noticed they gave the babies Similac Advanced with Iron. tomorrow we have a doctors appointment, and wanna know more about formulas before I ask our doctor..What do you use? does it let your son daughter go regularly? first time mother, & little confused about formulas X X Thank You PS he's one month old..

If you give your baby formula, how many cans do you go through?
I breastfeed but I have had to supplement here and there. I am now just finishing my first can and my son is 7 months old. I was wondering how often you need to open a new can, how many bottles a day do you give you LO and how much per bottle?
Is It possible to give my baby formula during the day but still breastfeed him at night?
I am getting ready to go back to work and although I have a great breast pump and have been pumping and storing milk since the day he was born, I don't think it's gonna work out for me to pump at work all the time and breast feeding, although rewarding, leaves me feeling very tied down. So I was just wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to back down my milk Supply and mainly give him formula but still have enough breast milk to nurse him at night at least when I put him down to sleep. I love the bonding that it provides for us and would really hate to loose it if I don't have to
What were the signs that your baby definitely needed to move to Hungry Baby formula?
...and how quickly did you notice a difference? Thanks for answers so far very helpful. My baby is nearly 7 weeks and still going 3 hours between feeds most of the time. But he doesn't settle well afterwards and is still searching for more after draining a 6oz bottle, even though his little tummy can't physically hold any more. I tried him on 7ozs but he possetts back the extra, which makes him even more unhappy I might well try the hungry baby milk just at bedtime to start, that's a great idea, thank you. x
