Did you ever find anything odd/weird in a jar of baby food?

Question: Did you ever find anything odd/weird in a jar of baby food?

(Posted by: catt on 2010-02-26 10:29:57)

I opened a jar of chicken and broccoli baby food for my baby and started to notice like little stiff hair- like things in it...there were a bunch of them...almost like the part of the feather that goes down the middle...but then I thought..how could there actually be feather parts in here? I wasn't saying that it WAS feathers ... I was just trying to explain the texture. It was too stiff and hairy like to be broccoli stock or chicken strings of meat.

Chicken feathers? You need to report this right away. Some parents are as thorough as you and might feed it to their baby without inspecting first. You'll get a refund too. Good luck!

Ew....no, but call the company! They will ask you questions (probably have you send it in) and send you free stuff!

Oo-er D: That sounds bad, I would call the company if I were you. I once found a bone like 1 inch x 1 inch in some cat food :S Why the thumbs down?

That's disgusting, you need to call and complain. If I found something like that in a baby jar I wouldn't use them again.

Eww.......no, but call n report this because if u would have not checked it could have been possible for ur baby to choke and die.

That is really disgusting. I'm going to check my babies food like alot now. I would complain about it and not use that brand again.

No, thank god. I read a question on here once about someone who found a mop string in a baby food jar. nasty. as an aside, once I found a bandaid in a piece of pizza I was eating.

That could very well be a part of the broccoli. Ever mashed up steamed broccoli before? Yeah, it has stuff that looks like that in it. The pull all the feathers out of the chicken at a completely different plant from where they make the baby food. If they kept the chickens in the same place they jar the baby food, it would not be safe for anyone to eat. Ever seen the conditions those chickens are kept it? Common sense.

It sounds like a bit of brocolli stalk to me...but contact the company. They will want to figure out how it happened and will probably send you a bunch of freebies :)

That's exactly why I make my daughter's food.

I have to agree with Tiffany. I've seen my Oma pluck a chicken and get it ready for cooking, After she's plucked it clean she'll burn the skin under a candle to get all the stubble hair off. And this should be done in a different plant or whatever because they then risk cross contamination. Broccoli might cause string like substance, but either way, just to be on the safe side I wouldn't feed it to your baby. If it doesn't look right don't eat it. eta - thinking jsut now, chicken can be pretty stringy too. Especially chicken breast.
