Baby Food

Question: My 7 month old baby is eating baby food but she really wont eat alot?

Ok so my daughter is about to be 7 months & she has never eaten a whole 6oz at a time..the most has been 5 oz which isnt a big deal she just likes to snack. but i started her on cereals & baby food at 4 months & i started with vegetables but she wont eat them anymore all she wants is fruit so is that bad? i still give her cereal, its not her favorite but she refuses veggies but she gets 10 cans from wic but shes been running out a week before we get more but still she dsnt eat that much. which surprises me bc she was a 8lb baby at birth & she weighs 19lbs so shes gaining weight just fine. but i want her to eat more baby food so she wont run out of milk so fast..she does like baby food but shes so curious bout everything around her..its hard to keep her attention on it..thanks for everyone who will help answer my question oh i know that the milk is still the main part of her nutrition she only take a jar a day or sometimes 2.. i didnt mean it like i was trying to get her from drinking milk.. excuse me..i didnt mean it like im going to force food down my childs throat..all i meant was im trying to get her to eat more baby food. & she drinks plenty of milk i do not take it away from her & when she dosent want her baby food i stop feeding it to her..i know that her milk is the main part of her nutrition i do have commen sense im so sorry that i worded that so badly that ppl on her would go crazy..i mean come on get a life. it was a simple question. & i rly wanted to know what to do about her not eating vegetables..would that be a problem? bc shes only eating fruits so ppl stop snapping. im a great mom with question bc shes my 1st child. so if ur gna come on here writing like ur the yahoo queen then dont bother bc there other ppl out there who wld help & answer the question. thank you for those who do. haha breastfeeding was my 1st option..i tried very hard to breast feed..she wldnt latch on so i tried pumping but the milk never cam through on oneside..was dissappointed about that

You never run out of milk when you breastfeed. Its fabulous, fast and free. Maybe next time.

That's completely normal. At 7 months she should still be getting just about all her nutrition from milk - solids are just tiny tastes for practice. If you're cutting down on her milk intake, you're feeding her too much solids.

You shouldn't be trying to replace her formula feedings or trying to decrease them. Right now solids are more for fun and practice, not a source of nutrition, and WIC is a supplemental program anyway so you may have to buy extra cans of formula every now and then(it should be expected, even). Don't try to force her to eat solid foods if she doesn't want them. At this age it's not important that she gets them so if she eats it, she eats it, but if not then it's not a huge deal.

"but i want her to eat more baby food so she wont run out of milk so fast. " No, you don't. A 7 month old NEEDS formula over solids -- she gets all her nutrition from formula at this age. If you're running out of formula... go out and buy some.

My daughter is 6 months and is the opposite. She doesnt like fruit, only veggies, so to get her to eat the fruit I put a little of that on the spoon and then dip it in the veggies to get her to eat it! that seems to trick her pretty well.
