Okay...long story short. I had my baby oct 23 4lb 13 oz 18 in long. December 28th she got her 2 month shots. ever since then she has been spitting up a lot. We took her back to the doctor jan 4th because of it the doctor told us to burp her more, feed her less, keep her upright after eating, all that good stuff. We did all of that and the vomiting continued. I called the doctor the next day and they switched her to Similac Sensitive RS. It worked okay for a little while but about 2 weeks ago she started spitting up a lot again. Well today i decided to measure it...2 oz. So basically out of a 5oz bottle shes only getting 3. Last night i decided to try to give her baby food then her bottle and she didn't spit up even a little bit. Do you think it's okay for me to give her baby food atleast once a day so i know shes getting a whole feeding? I'm calling the doctor again monday but just wanted a little advice from the mommy's out there.

My son had a MAJOR spit up issue, too and it was also around 2 months old!!! I was also told the same thing that you were, feed less and burp more. Well feeding less lasted about a day - my son just screamed for more food which told me that was not the correct course of action for him. Also, we were given a sample of the same formula you are using, but before we switched over, I wanted to try to see if I could change my approach to help my son. The small changes I made helped significantly, and we did not need to change formula, Here is what helped: He eats a 6 oz bottle. I let him eat until he slows down which is his cue that it's time to burp. Often times, this is at the 5 oz. mark. I get one good burp out of him. He finishes the rest of his bottle. I change his diaper and talk/ giggle with him while is he on his changing table. I pick him up and pat his butt. I will get AT LEAST another huge burp out of him, usually 2. I think the change in position from lying flat and then getting back up helps things settle or shift in his tummy. He still lets out a good stream of spit up, but that is normal and nothing like before. I also think he just grew out of it. As for solids, you will get a lot of opinions that state you should not start until 6 months. Do what your doctor advises, every baby is different! My son was given the green light for solids at 4 months. He is on oatmeal cereal now, but I don't see that it has changed his eating much. He is only 4.5 months and still getting used to the spoon, You might find that rice cereal is a blessing since it tends to bind things together, In some cases of severe spit up, some doctors advise putting a little bit of rice cereal in the bottle, But check with your doctor; there could be something else going on. Good luck; you're doing great Mommy! :o)

She's almost 4 months old, so i think a little baby food now and then wont hurt. is it cereal or a stage 1 puree? thats about the age some babies start baby food too, 4-5 months. i remember when my son kept spitting up, we found out he had acid reflux. if she cries at all with feedings, i would talk to her doctor about it. every little detail u notice can help solve the problem. good luck

That should be ok, she just needs something to settle in her stomach before she eats. Poor thing, I bet that leaves her feeling pretty hungry afterward. I think you have found a good solution. And I know moms dont hear this enough, Good Job MOM!!

I think the spit up is pretty normal. She's definitely not deprived if she's still getting 3oz. Spit up isn't just formula. It's a mixture of mucus and formula, so she's probably getting more than you think. My daughter is almost 6 months old and she only eats 4oz every 2-3 hours and she's significantly bigger than your baby. I wouldn't start solids until 5 or 6 months, their little bodies just aren't ready for it.

My daughter started baby food at 4 months. as long as she is handling it ok then it should be fine.
