Is it important to give him meat at this point?

If he is only 8 months, I'd put meats off for another month or so. I didn't start my son on chicken until after 9 months. He also refused to swallow any food with texture until later. He would eat cheerios, but not lumpy purees or chunks. He just spit it out. Maybe your baby just has a sensitive gag reflex and the lumpy food activates that. Or the meat could be too hard on his tummy at this point. Try other sources of protein like avocado or beans. Have you done dairy yet? I didn't with my son until he was 1 (except for formula), but dairy does have good protein, so that could be a temporary substitute for meat.

Umm take him to the doctor? Babies shouldn't barf every time they're fed

I would too, have you ever tasted that stuff? It tastes like the bottom of a shoe thats stepped in dog poo. Blah. I couldnt give it to my daughter - and she wouldnt take it anyway. It's not 100% necessary, but its good to have meats. My daughter doesnt always get meats, but now that she is one, I can feed her meats we are eating (chopped up well of course). She eats meat just fine, just NOT that baby meat crap. But, she has 12 teeth so she can chew just fine. I would hold off for a bit. He will be fine.

His tummy may not be ready for so much meat! you should start off with the baby cereals.. maybe add some fruit or veggie baby food in~ but- the protein might be to much~ t

My son is 13 months and still doesn't like meats - especially the jarred crud - we still continue to try and get him to eat meat bc of protein, but at this point, we know to make sure and supplement with other foods rich in protein. our pediatrician said that there are a large number of infants/ toddlers who are vegetarians until about 2-3 years of age. speak with your pediatrician, but my son did/ does the same thing - also, it might be too early for more textured foods, he may not like the texture at this point, so stick to purees for a few more weeks and then try again, but never force foods of any kind on your child - this just encourages "food fights " at meal time, which should be more of a learning process for your little one.

Not at all. Some folks live a long and healthy life without ever eating dead animals. If he is doing well on fruits, veg's, and cereals, that is all he needs. (plus a little supplemental vitamins and minerals) It is almost impossible to manage a protein deficient diet. About the only way you can do it is to feed only fruit and one grain. DON'T WORRY

The meats aren't as important as the fruits and veggies. My daughter hated the first baby food meats. Once I had made sure my daughter wasn't allergic to any of the meats, I moved on to the meat sticks. They're like vienna sausages and they taste much better. I just cut them up into little chunks or put them in the blender until she could eat a whole one. Maybe that will work for you. Good luck!

My baby hates the 8 month old jarred food, he will gag if I give him any of the food that is in the jar, the only thing that worked for me is that he likes sweet potatoe so I bought the sweet potatoe and chicken or the sweet potatoe and turkey jarred baby food. I also started slowly giving my baby the food we are having for dinner but really ground up in small pieces, he likes that way better than the jarred food, he also likes the yoguart tubes, banana's (not the jarred kind hates those), he is basically having what we eat but mashed into small pieces, my other children were the same way as soon as they got to a certain age they HATED jarred food and wanted what we ate instead. always supervised of course.

Its not important and the meat in the baby food jars is disgustingi would barf too. but maybe it is to thick or to chunky for him and he is not ready for it.

It is not important to feed you child meats. Fruits and Veggies are the important ones. If you want to be able to feed your baby meats try Chicken and vegatables or Chicken noodle. As for the beef flavor well my son really did not like that one so I am sticking with chicken and Turkey sometimes. All stage two.

Depends on teeth and chewing process he has learnt. Otherwise he needs soft food. Mesh up the chunks into very small pieces he can manage in his mouth. Slowly increase the sizes of the pieces. He is probably developing taste buds. So, slowly he would reject babyfood (cannot explain why meat only). By now you must have gone through stages of baby cereals, fruits, and variety of vegetables/ meats in baby foods. Check with the pediatrician what is the next stage. Meat is not necessary. But if you still want to, give at certain intervals and pretty meshed up, watch the results and reactions and slowly increase. Hope this helps.

My daughter didn't eat meat until she was over a year old. Solid foods aren't necessary for nutrition at that age. The only thing they need to have is formula or breastmilk until they are 1 year old. I'd just stop giving him anything that makes him throw up at least for awhile.
