Another question on here got me thinking ... .... my son is 7mnts, 19.13lbs (that was 2wks ago so i figure 20lbs now), & & 26.4in. .... now my question .. is what im giving him seem okay/ right? formula ;; around 37oz give or take per day. solids ;; 3 whole meals & a couple snacks. juice ;; 4- 8oz every couple of days. i was reading in "what to expect the first year " & i seen where is said "grazing " is the healthiest for growing babies ?? also, people keep telling me my son is "big " for 7 months? his ped. hasnt really said much? i personally think its because both his fathers & my side of the family is "big boned ". my son isnt "fat " at all, but hes stalky. .. i have a friend who has a 9 month baby weighing 30 some lbs' (to me something is wrong there, but their ped. seems okay with it, because he eats healthy?) .. & i was told not to really worry about my son's weight until he's around age 2? (has anyone heard anything about that?). anything i need to change?

My son is 8 months old, 21.4lbs 28 inches. he's on almost the same diet as yours except I don't give him juice. sounds like you are doing just fine!

I have a 6mth old and i have a two year old and i personally think that you should cut back just a little on the formula but its okay to have a chunky baby as long as its healthy and when they are around two that's when to worry because they will fight sometimes to only eat what they want but you just have to be persistent i think your doing great

My son is 10 months and about 26 lbs. his pedi says his weight is fine. i never force him to eat, and he sometimes turns down food, and other times eats more. if your baby is hungry feed him, and i think the stuff you listed is ok. good luck. :)

My son is almost 11months and weighs 20lbs. the doctor has always said he is small for his age and i need to start supplementing (when i was breastfeeding) with formula and feed him more but as a baby, i was small. as a baby, my husband was small. i think my son is healthy and he doesn't seem sluggish or starving, so i'm doing my own thing. if your child is grossly obese where it's going to affect his heart and mobility (like those kids on maury povich), then i'd be worried but he just has a good appetite. as long as you're not feeding him junk food, then he should be okay. like you said, both sides of the family are 'big boned' so that may have something to do with it. my families are more on the slender side. my mother-in-law is like 5'0 "! as for your friend with the 30lb 9month old, OMG! how can she carry him? maybe he's getting too much.....

I don't think that you really need to change anything. Your son is becoming more mobile, and over the next couple of months, if he isn't already, should be crawling all over the place. Once he starts to become more active his weight gain will start to level off a bit. If you are really concerned about it you could try cutting his formula back to around 30 ounces and giving him more solids to make up for it. Babies typically are really good at knowing how much and when they need to eat, so as long as they aren't being forced to eat their weight doesn't really need to be worried about. Here's a pic of my son at Halloween two days before he turned 7 months. He was 19 pounds at 6 months and 21 pounds at 9 months. His winnie the pooh suit is a 12 month size. browers.rexburgopensource.com/ gallery/ main.php?g2_itemId= 677

I was told by my Dr a baby needs about 32 ozs of milk a day. I would watch how much you are giving of the solid foods if you are giving snacks as well. When i my son was a around the same age he was on table food so I had to watch what snacks were given and the amounts of real food . when you are giving them the milk they don't need as much food. Sometimes a baby will let you know when they are full. I took my son off the bottle at a year and the diet adjusted it self. He would eat three meals a day and maybe some fruit, or dry cereal for snacks.

Alot of babies are bigger until they start crawling and walking. as soon as they start being more mobile the weight will drop off.
